    The trip

An underground wonder, 30 minutes from your door

Miners began carving the Wieliczka Salt Mine in the 13th century. Seven centuries of digging left behind far more than tunnels: chambers, sculptures, and entire underground lakes, all cut from salt. The centrepiece is St. Kinga's Chapel, a full church hewn from the rock deep below ground. UNESCO lists the whole site as World Heritage. The underground visit typically takes 2 to 3 hours on foot.

Our part of the day is simple and private. An English-speaking chauffeur collects you from any address in a Mercedes-Benz, at whatever time suits your plans. The drive to Wieliczka takes about 30 minutes, roughly 15 km from central Kraków. While you head underground, your chauffeur waits near the entrance, so the car is ready the moment you surface. You pay one fixed price per vehicle, whether you travel alone or fill every seat.

The mine admits visitors only on guided routes led by its own licensed guides. That rule applies to everyone, from the largest coach group to a party of two, so the tour underground is the same whoever brings you there. A private booking changes what happens above ground: your own departure time and a direct return when you're done. Entry tickets are separate; tell us when booking and we will help arrange them for your preferred time slot.

    On this trip

    What you'll see

St. Kinga's Chapel, a full church carved in salt 101 metres underground
About 20 chambers along the 3 km Tourist Route, with salt sculptures and brine lakes
The walk down to 135 metres below ground, some 800 steps along the way
The Miners' Route as an alternative: overalls, a lamp and hands-on mining tasks

What you see depends on the route you book: the classic Tourist Route or the hands-on Miners' Route. We can advise and help arrange tickets when you book.

    Questions travellers ask

Are entry tickets to the mine included?

We provide the private transport; entry tickets are separate. The mine sells timed entry for its own guided routes, and slots fill up in peak season. Tell us when you book and we will help arrange tickets for a time that fits your day, or contact us with any special requests.

Is this a guided tour of the mine?

Only the mine's own licensed guides lead the underground visit. That is the only way in, whoever you book with, so no outside company can guide you below ground. Our service is the private ride and the flexibility around it: your own departure time and a direct drive back when you finish.

How is this different from a bus tour from Kraków?

A bus tour sets the schedule; you fit your day around a fixed departure and a group's pace. With a private car, the day runs on your clock: pickup from your own address and a return whenever you step out of the mine.

Can I combine Wieliczka with Auschwitz-Birkenau in one day?

Yes. Many visitors pair the two, since both sit within easy reach of Kraków. Our Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine day trip covers both in a single private itinerary with one chauffeur for the whole day.

How long does the whole trip take?

Plan on 4–5 hours door to door from Kraków: about 30 minutes each way, plus 2 to 3 hours underground on the mine's route. The booking form shows the available pickup zones, Kraków by default; a start from another city makes the day longer. If you only need a one-way ride rather than the full day trip, book the private transfer from Kraków to Wieliczka instead.
